14th March 2004 Shoot in the Forest of Dean

Margam and Bosworth . Good to meet up with old friends.

As usual the weather was an inportant factor....YUCK!!

Very few stayed the course, but as many meetings before a good day for all who attended.

Well done to the brave few who completed the clout, MAD FOOLS.

Thank you Rod and his good lady for setting up the day.

12th April 2004 Easter Shoot

Members certainly missed the out door shoots through the winter because there were 30+ eager archers raring to go.. And what a cracking shoot was laid on, 24 targets with 3Ds and clout as part of the days shoot.

Thank You all who worked hard to set up the course and organise the day

Big Thank You to Chris and Jayne for the BBQ..by the way they got married on the 31st March.

So congratulations to you both and best wishes from Margam Archers.

The British Longbow Society – Welsh Meeting
Saturday 22nd May 2004

Despite the rain clouds hanging over the park it stayed dry, which made a pleasant change compared to previous years.

As Always, a good atmosphere with the opportunity to meet up with old friends and rivals which all served to make the day a success.

Another great days shooting, especially for the Ladies of Margam. Helen Urtiaga came away with 1st in the Ladies Roving Mark and Bethan Jones who came a close second. Christine Tudor 1st place in the Flight Arrow Distance.

The men were not to be out done with Gavin Ferrie doing exceptionally well in the raffle...

A lady archer no names mentioned Sue B, was heard to comment, (not able to do the accent)

"Bloody Hell its a Welsh Takeover"

To The Archers of Margam
I consider it a great privilege to be part of Margam Archers, the surroundings and the atmosphere at the 'Arrows Rest' is special - nobody is out of tune (well apart from Alan's saxophone).
Two thirds of help is to give courage, and that is what you have done for me during a very difficult month, I cannot let it pass without thanking you .
To you all

Battle Field Britain introduced by Peter and Dan Snow.

Nice one to Margam Archers and all visiting friends that made their film debut and were seen through out the UK on Friday 20th August. BBC 2

The program concentrated on 1400, when the greatest hero of medieval Welsh history emerged, to show that independent aspirations had not disappeared, and Wales was still far from a centrally administered part of the English state. Owain Glyn Dwr led a revolt that, for a while, extended his authority across all Wales. But as the program went on to explain went very close and even invaded England as we know not for long.

Perhaps the Welsh had the last laugh after all, for Henry of course, was a Tudor; a Welshman. As Merlin had predicted, the Welsh once again ruled England.

THE BOWMEN OF BOSWORTH

5th SEPTEMBER 2004

A Tribute black arrow was loosed as a mark of respect to Bob a member of The Bowmen of Bosworth who recently passed away. He was a good friend to many of us at Margam who will remember him with fondness. Our condolences go to his family and friends.

Best Place For Them

Lovely Ladies of Bosworth

Another great day was spent in the company of The Bowmen of Bosworth, and other invited clubs that had to compete in various archery events.

Where do they get their ideas?

They had picked one of the hottest days this year, and with us all dressed in our finery we quietly melted in the sunshine. As you can see in the picture the heat got to Alan of Margam, so he went fishing.

At the end of a great shoot we banqueted with fare prepared by the Ladies and Gentlemen of Bosworth.

As usual a great day was had by all many thanks for inviting us.

11th SEPTEMBER 2004

THE 2nd WELSH CLOUT CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

The Flags were flying at Margam on the 2nd B.L.B.S / Cwmni Cymraeg y Bwa Championship event held at the park. As the picture shows some were ready as usual for the rain, but the day was only marred by one down pour towards the end of the event.

16th October 2004

End of Season Shoot.

There were 22 targets set up around Margams field, something quite challenging. Although the weather stayed fine, The Stoop was given a miss this time. It was great to see some of the newer members to Margam Archers sample their first field shoot and the general impression was that they look forward to the next one! Thanks for the new score sheets from Terry Robinson. The BBQ as always was first class and a great success again. A BIG THANK YOU to Chris and Jane Church . Thanks must also go to the people who worked hard setting out the course for this shoot and all the previous events. The repairing of the foot bridges, much appreciated by all! This shoot ended the outdoor season and a big thankyou to Christine Tudor for all the Tournaments and events organised in the Park this year.

Four Lady Winners

There was a Scotsman, Irishman no Englishman-and, Welshman took the pic.
